The highlight of the event was the match between Vietnamese boxer Kieu Duy Quan and Han Jun (Korea) in the 75 kg weight class. Duy Quan is currently the leading talent of Vietnamese martial arts, possessing a 4-match winning streak in the professional kickboxing arena. Meanwhile, Han Jun is a veteran boxer from Korea, with an impressive record of 12 wins in just 17 matches.

Korean boxer provokes Duy Quan

As the match was about to begin, Han Jun stuck out his tongue to provoke Kieu Duy Quan. After the referee's opening signal, the Korean boxer launched two heavy sweeping punches but Duy Quan still stood firm.

Immediately after that, the Vietnamese representative unleashed a "shower" of extremely fast and powerful punches, leaving Han Jun defenseless. After being hit by a heavy left hook to the ribs from Duy Quan, Han Jun lay on the floor with a face full of pain. The Korean boxer had to be treated by doctors and could not continue the match.

In the only women's match in the 51 kg weight class, SEA Games silver medalist and national champion Nguyen Thi Chieu won on points against Jung A-young (Korea). This was a match where Jung A-young was the more proactive player, creating a pressing situation, but Nguyen Thi Chieu remained calm and had very good counterattacks to score points.

The remaining representative of Vietnam, Bui Duy Chi Thanh (70 kg weight class), lost to Yue Shuai. The Chinese boxer, with his height advantage and better striking range, dominated Chi Thanh in all three rounds.

In addition to the exciting matches of Vietnamese boxers, the kickboxing & muay event on the evening of July 19 also made a strong impression with the heroic matches ending in eye-catching knockouts. Experienced Thai boxer Kongphathum used an extremely heavy right high kick to send Mehdi Ayadi (France) to the floor when the second round had just started for more than 20 seconds. Xie Bo (China) used powerful punches to knock out Wakuto Furuichi (Japan) when the first round had just passed half the time. In the remaining two matches, Zhu Bao Lei (China) won by points over Jung Ki-han (Korea), Boulahri Hicham (Morocco) won by points over Supachai (Thailand).
