According to the Quick Report of the Department of Health of Dien Bien province and some Departments of Health of the mountainous and midland provinces of the North, the impact of heavy rain lasting from July 31 to August 1 caused landslides and flash floods, affecting the health and lives of people; medical examination and treatment have been actively deployed to provide timely emergency treatment and stabilization for most of the victims.
In particular, at Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital, 3 victims are being treated, including 1 child patient diagnosed with grade 3 liver rupture.
The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management requested the Director of the Dien Bien Department of Health and the Directors of the Departments of Health of the Northern mountainous and midland provinces to continue to urgently focus on human resources and expertise to treat patients, coordinate with hospitals and leading experts to promptly consult and treat the victims.
In cases beyond the hospital's professional capacity, the patient must be promptly transferred to a hospital with higher professional level or specialized level to ensure the best care and treatment conditions for the victims.
The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment also requested the local health sector to coordinate with relevant agencies in overcoming the consequences of landslides and flash floods; organize readiness to receive patients and victims in the context of complicated weather forecasts; pay attention to health care and psychological stability for accident victims.
