The art tour is part of the “Community Garden” project jointly organized by Goethe-Institut Hanoi, French Institute in Hanoi and Think Playgrounds, aiming to promote the sustainable development of public spaces and urban landscapes in Hanoi, through the creative application of public art and recycling practices.

The program includes main activities: visiting Phuc Tan Forest Park and the efforts of local people to build community spaces, with the support of local authorities and social enterprise Think Playgrounds; visiting public art works built in the "Community Garden" program: dining table arrangements, comic sketches, works recycled from glass bottles.

In addition, artists and experts from Germany, France and Vietnam will share their perspectives on using art to raise awareness of local environmental issues.

The program is expected to have the participation of the German and French Ambassadors to Vietnam, the Director of the Goethe-Institut Hanoi, and the Director of the French Institute in Hanoi.

Artists Jöran Mandik and Eliza Chojnacka (Germany), comic artists Maxime Péroz and Clément Baloup, urban planning expert Sylvie Fanchette (France) have accepted to participate in the program, along with two Vietnamese artists and experts, Tran Luong and Pham Minh Duc.

Here, the artists will immerse themselves in the space of the Red River bank - an area that was once neglected and littered in the heart of Hanoi, and at the same time use artistic practices about ecological stories during the booming development period of the capital, about the lives of people living on the edge of the city.

The program includes diverse artistic practices and approaches: temporary installations, discussions, comic drawing activities...

These activities will share one thing in common: going into green spaces and residential areas, using materials outside the usual framework and ensuring the participation of local people in the process of making the work.

The "Community Garden" project is supported by the Franco-German Cultural Foundation and will be implemented between September and November 2024.
