Ms. Chu Thi Thu, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Bim Son Ward (Thanh Hoa) discussed with reporters of the Vietnam Women's Newspaper about this content to clarify the current situation and solutions to improve the effectiveness of poverty reduction and information on entrepreneurship for women in the locality.
Grassroots efforts to spread the entrepreneurial spirit
- How do you evaluate the current situation of access to information on startups among women, especially women in difficult circumstances in Bim Son ward?
Before the administrative restructuring, Bim Son was an industrial town. As a result, the majority of women who are engaged in business, trade or working in private enterprises in the area have many favorable conditions to access information on starting a business. This group also has easy access to information technology, so the ability to grasp business opportunities is higher.

On the contrary, for women in difficult circumstances, access to startup information still faces many obstacles due to limitations in qualifications, awareness, lack of technological means and limited time compared to those with better economic conditions.
- In the past, what activities has the Bim Son Ward Women's Union implemented to raise awareness and provide information about startups for members and women?
The Women's Union of Bim Son Ward has proactively promoted propaganda through the Union's information channels, organized training courses and integrated startup content into movement activities to raise awareness and provide knowledge to members.
Specifically, the Association has established a Women Entrepreneurs Club, organized 8 training courses and supported the establishment of 12 women-owned businesses. In addition, 3 products were introduced to participate in the "Women's Creative - Start-up Day" competition.
- How is the role of the Women Entrepreneurs Club demonstrated in consulting, training and supporting startups?
The Women Entrepreneurs Club members are women who own businesses, not only inspiring startups but also motivating members who want to start their own businesses.
At the same time, members of the Club also support each other in production - business, product consumption, forming effective chains between industries.

- How do you evaluate the effectiveness of OCOP product models and local specialties such as "Son Oanh leaf cake", "Snail sausage", or "Herbal chicken eggs"?
These are all typical local agricultural products, started by women members with small initial capital, gradually overcoming difficulties to build a brand.
Many products have been on the market for a long time, but since achieving OCOP certification, their added value has clearly increased and they are better known to local and foreign consumers.
Removing information barriers to help disadvantaged women confidently start a business
- In your opinion, what barriers are still preventing women, especially disadvantaged women, from accessing information on starting a business and developing the economy?
Many women still have an inferiority complex and are not bold enough to take the lead when starting a business. In many cases, the husband is named director, while the wife only plays a supporting role such as deputy director or accountant.
In addition, women who directly develop the economy often do not receive support from their families and relatives; especially for disadvantaged women, the journey of starting a business faces many barriers.
Women in Bim Son ward started a business with a cow raising model using loan support.
- In the coming time, does the Women's Union of Bim Son ward have any specific plans or solutions to improve communication effectiveness and reduce poverty through startups?
We will continue to strengthen coordination with the Social Policy Bank, microfinance organizations, commercial banks in the area and the Provincial Women's Union to organize training courses to improve knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, economic development and sustainable poverty reduction for women. At the same time, create conditions for members to access preferential loans with low interest rates.
This is also the foundation for the Ward Women's Union to effectively implement start-up support models. Up to now, the Union has established the "Women help each other develop the economy, start a business" Club; actively introduce products to participate in competitions such as Women's Creative - Start-up Day and promote products produced by women to customers inside and outside the locality as well as on digital platforms.

- What advice do you have for women who want to start a business but lack information and confidence?
Women need to boldly overcome barriers and social prejudices, believe in themselves. In every woman, there is always a lot of effort and ability to start a business, start a business, so be confident to step out of your comfort zone. The Women's Union at all levels always accompanies, supports and creates conditions for women to turn ideas into reality.
