King's Cup is a traditional annual tournament of Thai football. This year, the participating teams in this tournament, in addition to host Thailand, also include Iraq, Fiji and Hong Kong (China).
It is easy to see that Thailand's opponents at the King's Cup, except for Iraq, are all very weak teams on the world football map.

The Hong Kong team is ranked 147th in FIFA, while the Fiji team is ranked 150th in FIFA (latest ranking, according to the July rankings of the World Football Federation).
This is a very different reality compared to the golden age of Thai football a few years ago. When the Thai team still dominated Southeast Asia, making a splash in the Asian arena, the King's Cup of this football country sometimes attracted many strong teams to participate, including Korea, Trinidad & Tobago, Uzbekistan, Slovakia...
Now, the above teams, or teams of equivalent level such as Korea, Trinidad & Tobago, Slovakia no longer consider the King's Cup as an ideal place to compete internationally.
The absence of strong teams from the King's Cup coincides with the decline of Thai football internationally. The Thai national team is no longer the dominant team in Southeast Asia, nor is it making a splash in Asian tournaments and World Cup qualifiers.
King's Cup 2025 will take place from September 1 to September 9, in Kanchanaburi province (Thailand).
