Currently, Brazil is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America and second in the Americas, after the United States.

Brazil is one of Vietnam's leading partners in Latin America. In 1989, the two countries officially established diplomatic relations. In 2007, the two countries upgraded their relationship to the level of Comprehensive Partnership, with the desire to effectively implement bilateral cooperation.

Over the past 35 years, the relationship between Vietnam and Brazil has been developing positively in all areas and has become deeper and more substantial. In particular, political relations have become increasingly close and trustworthy; economic and trade relations have increased and achieved many good results.

Currently, Brazil is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America and second in the Americas, after the United States. In turn, Vietnam is Brazil's leading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Economic and trade cooperation is becoming the foundation for long-term relations between the two countries.

In recent years, trade turnover between Vietnam and Brazil has witnessed strong growth, reflecting the extensive and diverse trade partnership between the two countries. Vietnam and Brazil are promoting negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Southern Common Market (Mercosur - including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay) to turn this FTA into a driving force to exploit the export market in the Latin American region.
