The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025 in the capital city of Sucre, Bolivia. Accordingly, all 4 Vietnamese students participating won medals, with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

Specifically, the only gold medal belonged to Le Kien Thanh, a 12th grade student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai province.
The two silver medals went to Dang Huy Hau, a 10th grade student at Thang Long High School for the Gifted, and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, an 11th grade student at the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Ninh Quang Thang, a 12th grade student at Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province, won a bronze medal.
With 100% of contestants winning medals, the Vietnamese national IOI team is among the top 8 countries and territories in the medal tally, after China, South Korea, Romania, Singapore, Bulgaria, Hungary and Japan.
The Ministry of Education and Training believes that, in the context of countries increasingly investing heavily in their teams in the era of digital technology and artificial intelligence, competition at the IOI exam is increasingly fierce.
However, the Vietnamese IOI team still maintained its achievements and continued to be in the top countries with the best overall achievements.
According to the regulations of the IOI Council 2025, the exam has 2 official exam days. On each day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test, solving 3 problems with rich content. The results are automatically graded online by the system and the scoreboard is announced directly throughout the two exam days (online).
The IOI 2025 exam is assessed to be highly difficult, diverse in genres with 6 tests of 6 completely different types, requiring candidates to have comprehensive background knowledge, creativity and flexible thinking.
