The Wanhui Restaurant in northern China's Shanxi Province has recently attracted widespread attention online and raised concerns about animal welfare. Photos and video clips posted on China's Wechat and Weibo platforms show customers cuddling lion cubs as if they were infants.
The Wanhui restaurant in Taiyuan city also has llamas, turtles and deer for customers to play with. Wanhui, which opened in June, sells about 20 tickets a day to customers who want to pet the animals as part of a set menu priced at 1,078 yuan (about 3.7 million VND), according to Shanghai Daily .

The service has raised serious concerns about its legality and animal welfare, the paper added.
Most online comments were critical, saying the activity was dangerous and bad for animals. "This is a game for rich people," one Weibo user commented. Another called for government intervention: "Relevant departments should handle this matter."
The incident comes shortly after authorities in China investigated a hotel in June for offering “wake-up services” involving red pandas. The hotel in the southwestern region of Chongqing allowed the animals to climb into beds to wake guests.
