How to open an online bank account without ID card

What is a bank account?

In Vietnam, customers can open bank accounts at many different banks. Normally, when registering to open an account, the bank will give customers a series of account numbers along with a username. This is considered each person's own bank account.

Bank account numbers usually have between 8 and 15 digits. Different banks have different numbers in their account numbers. After opening a bank account, users can perform transactions such as transferring money, paying bills, making savings deposits, etc.

Can I open an online bank account without an ID card?

Customers without ID card/CCCD will not be able to register to open a bank account. Because, currently, there is no bank or credit institution in our country that accepts to support customers to register to open an account without ID card/CCCD.

However, there are some special cases where customers can still open a bank account without an ID card/CCCD as follows:

- Vietnamese citizens under 14 years old and foreigners with entry visas or documents proving visa exemption: In this case, bank accounts can be opened through guardians or legal representatives. Accordingly, the guardian must still have valid identification documents along with documents proving his/her legal representative status with the account owner.

- Lost documents but have notarized copies: Some banks allow opening an account with a photocopied ID card certified with a red seal from a competent authority.

Thus, users can open a bank account without an ID card/CCCD when they have registered for a card but forgot to bring it, but still have a photo of both sides of the ID card/CCCD, and remember the exact ID card/CCCD number.

How to open an online bank account without ID card

Condition

To open an online bank account without an ID card/CCCD, customers must meet the following conditions:

- Be a legal Vietnamese citizen or a foreigner living and working in Vietnam.

- Be 15 years of age or older and have full civil capacity.

- Have a photo of valid ID card/CCCD/Passport.

Steps to create an online bank account without ID card

To create a bank account without ID card/CCCD, customers need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Download the bank's Mobile Banking application to your phone.

Step 2: Click on "Open a bank account" and fill in personal information

Step 3: Verify the front and back of your CCCD/ID card and perform face verification using eKYC technology and complete the registration procedure.

Step 4: The banking system will review and send registration information to the customer.
