How to calculate 10th grade exam scores in Hanoi

Below is how to calculate the entrance exam scores for grade 10 of public high schools in Hanoi in 2024.

According to regulations of the Department of Education and Training, schools only consider admission for students who have completed all required exams, do not violate exam regulations to the point of having their exam results canceled, and do not have any exams with a score of 0.

According to regulations of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the calculation of entrance exam scores for grade 10 at non-specialized public high schools is as follows:

Admission score = (Math test score + Literature test score) x 2 + Foreign language test score + priority points (if any). In which, test scores of each subject are calculated on a 10-point scale.

Regarding the admission principles, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training clearly stipulates: Recruit candidates who wish to register for admission to the school, taking admission scores from high to low until the quota is full. Candidates who are admitted to the first choice will not be considered for the following choices. The admission scores for the second and third choices must be 1 and 2 points higher than the first choice.

The Department only considers admission for students who have completed all required exams, do not violate exam regulations to the point of having their exam results canceled, and do not have any exams with a score of 0.

The regulations on priority points are as follows: Priority points added to the 10th grade entrance exam range from 0.5 to 1.5 points, depending on the subject and priority policy. Students are only entitled to the highest priority point if multiple criteria apply.

Firstly, students are awarded 1.5 points if they are one of the following: Children of martyrs; children of war invalids with a loss of 81% or more of their working capacity; children of sick soldiers with a loss of 81% or more of their working capacity; children of people who have been granted a "Certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids, but the person granted a certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids has a loss of 81% or more of their working capacity"; children of resistance fighters who are infected with toxic chemicals.

Second, students are awarded 1 point if they are one of the following subjects: Children of armed forces heroes; children of labor heroes; children of heroic Vietnamese mothers; children of war invalids with less than 81% loss of working capacity; children of sick soldiers with less than 81% loss of working capacity; children of people granted "Certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids, where the person granted the certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids has a reduced working capacity of less than 81%.

Third, students will receive an additional 0.5 points if they belong to one of the following categories: Having a parent who is an ethnic minority; an ethnic minority; or a person living or studying in an area with difficult or especially difficult socio -economic conditions.
