Canada initiates review of upholstered chairs imported from Vietnam

The Canada Border Services Agency initiated an administrative review to update the normal value and export price for upholstered furniture imported from Vietnam.


According to the Department of Trade Remedies, Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 25, 2024, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an administrative review to update the normal values and export prices for upholstered seat products (UDS) originating or imported from China and Vietnam by 8 exporters.

In addition, the Canada Border Services Agency will also review affiliated companies and unaffiliated manufacturers or trading companies involved in the manufacture and sale of the UDS products subject to investigation to Canada through one of the eight exporters.

This group of eight exporters is considered mandatory respondents and is responsible for forwarding the Canada Border Services Agency's Request for Information (RFI) to the above-mentioned stakeholders.

The Canada Border Services Agency's anticipated review schedule is as follows:

In the event that the parties concerned fail to provide complete information requested by the Canada Border Services Agency, anti-dumping duties will be imposed at a rate of 188.0% on the subject goods from China and 179.5% on the subject goods from Vietnam.

Exporters who are not producers of the goods under investigation (e.g. trading companies, suppliers) will only be entitled to a separate normal value calculation if their supplier/producer provides sufficient information to allow determination of the normal value and export price.

The Trade Defense Department said that in order to protect the legitimate rights of Vietnamese UDS product manufacturing/exporting enterprises, relevant manufacturing/exporting enterprises: Study the legal regulations on Canada's review activities; Provide full information requested in the Investigation Questionnaire and fully cooperate with the Canadian investigation agency throughout the review process; Contact the Trade Defense Department for timely support.
