According to the Thanh Hoa Department of Health, the province has achieved positive results in improving children's nutritional status. The rate of stunting in children under 5 years old has decreased from 41.6% (in 1999) to 23.5% (in 2023); underweight is 6.9% and wasting is 3.6%.

However, Thanh Hoa is still facing many challenges, especially in remote areas where malnutrition rates remain high, micronutrient deficiencies persist, and the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months of life has not reached the set target.

The conference called on medical facilities to promote breastfeeding counseling and support; the media to increase the dissemination of positive messages about the value of breast milk; and mobilize the participation of mass organizations and the whole society to build a sustainable support system for mothers.

Within the framework of the program, experts and representatives of the organization participated in a discussion and shared experiences in promoting breastfeeding for the healthy future of Vietnamese children.

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated annually in more than 120 countries to promote breastfeeding and improve infant health globally.

In Vietnam, the event contributes to raising awareness of the fundamental role of breast milk for health, development and social justice. Many international and non-governmental organizations, such as World Vision International, are implementing programs to support vulnerable children in 14 provinces and cities, especially in disadvantaged areas.
