During the ceremony to award the decision to support 100% of the cost of in vitro fertilization for 10 infertile couples in difficult circumstances at the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital, Ms. Nguyen Thi Moi (30 years old, Tay ethnic group, living in Ha Giang ) did not think that she could reach her dream of becoming a mother when both husband and wife were infertile and had financial difficulties.

Ms. Moi shared that the couple got married in 2020, but after two years, there was still no good news. Worried, they went to the doctor and discovered that Ms. Moi had hydrosalpinx and Mr. Xuan Anh had weak sperm. Only in vitro fertilization (IVF) could help them realize their dream of becoming parents.

But the huge cost left this couple of workers in the highlands with nowhere to turn. As workers with low salaries, they could not afford the cost of IVF.

"My husband and I could only rely on some traditional medicine, but our hopes were always disappointed," Ms. Moi shared. The real opportunity came when they learned about the hospital's "Golden Week". After submitting their application for approval, her family was lucky to receive a free IVF support package.

Doctor Pham Van Huong, deputy director of the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital, directly examined and discovered Ms. Moi, saying that uterine fluid retention makes it impossible for couples to conceive naturally.

The reason is that the fallopian tube is where the egg and sperm meet. When the fallopian tube has fluid, the egg and sperm cannot meet and cannot fertilize.

However, Ms. Moi's case had uterine polyps, along with a history of hydrosalpinx, so surgery was needed to remove the polyps and clamp the fallopian tubes to ensure optimal conditions for embryo transfer.

After a period of recovery, by the second embryo transfer in November 2023, Ms. Moi was pregnant successfully. The pregnancy journey went smoothly, and now the couple is completely happy with their baby.

Ms. Moi shared that for many infertile couples in difficult circumstances, the cost of treatment and IVF is a distant dream. However, that does not mean they give up their dream of becoming parents. "With modern medicine, any couple can welcome their beloved child," Ms. Moi advised.

MSc. Dr. Le Thi Thu Hien, the hospital's professional director, shared that the free IVF packages are not only financial support, but also a message of love, companionship and sharing with patients.

"The journey to find a child is not only difficult medically, but also psychologically and financially challenging. We hope to provide a support so that families do not give up," said Dr. Hien.
