VTC NewsVTC News31/05/2023

Ball Thai newspaper reported that midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin is considering returning to Thailand to play as he has reached the age of 30. Chanathip is gradually entering the other side of his career. He has only played 2 matches after 15 rounds in J-League 1 this season,

Ball Thai wrote: " There are not many teams that can afford to bring Chanathip back to the Thai League. Some teams have the financial resources and connections to bring him back to Thailand, but certainly not Tero or Muangthong United. Port FC is the name with the most potential and no barriers. Fans want Chanathip to continue fighting, which is not wrong because the players still do so. But this is the time to decide whether what has been achieved is enough or not ."

Chanathip can return to Thai League.

Port FC President - businesswoman Nualphan Lamsam is showing her determination to bring Chanathip back to the Thai League. Madam Pang has a close relationship with this midfielder when she was the head of the Thai national team. Ms. Pang also does not hide her ambition to run for the position of President of the Football Association of Thailand to replace General Somyot Pompanmoung.

During his career, Chanathip played 123 matches for Consadole Sapporo, scoring 15 goals and providing 22 assists. After that, the player born in 1993 moved to Kawasaki Frontale. He managed to score 3 goals and 3 assists after 26 matches.

The large transfer fee is considered to be part of the reason why Chanathip Songkrasin is under pressure and cannot show his full potential at his new team. But certainly Chanathip and Theerathon Bunmathan are still the two most successful players in the history of Thai football to have played abroad.

Although Japanese football has a big difference in terms of expertise and culture compared to Thailand, this duo adapted well and left a big mark in the J-League.
