The survey results showed that Chiang Mai took the top spot as the city that made the strongest impression on visitors, while Thailand's capital Bangkok followed closely behind in third place - reaffirming Thailand's long-standing reputation as one of Asia's top travel destinations.

Chiang Mai is located in the relatively cool mountainous northern province of the same name in Thailand. Once the capital of the Lanna Kingdom (which lasted from the late 13th to the late 18th centuries), Chiang Mai is home to cultural relics from that period, as well as beautiful and intricate Buddhist temples. Travel + Leisure readers also love the night markets, street food , and nature-based activities—like elephant safaris and soulful mountain hikes. It’s also a place for creatives, with gorgeous boutique hotels, vibrant co-working spaces, and a vibrant university scene.

Hoi An, Vietnam, is in the top 10 best cities in Asia in 2025 voted by Travel + Leisure. The ancient town of Hoi An makes a strong impression thanks to its architecture bearing the imprint of the fusion between local and foreign cultures, along with the interwoven canal system and the friendliness of the people. Travel + Leisure magazine said: "Tourists love to stroll or take photos on the moss-covered brick streets, explore small cafes, craft shops and the vibrant culinary and cultural space at night."
