Located in the west of Hamilton, Waikato Stadium has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. This location is a 15-20 minute walk from the center of Hamilton. The entire Waikato pitch is mainly sand. The home ground of the New Zealand 7s Rugby Club will host 5 group stage matches of the 2023 World Cup. The match between the Vietnamese women's team and the Portuguese women's team is the third match. In the first match between the Japanese women's team and the Zambia women's team (July 22), the Asian representative showed superiority and won 5-0.

It is expected that on July 26, the Vietnamese women's team will travel to Hamilton City and get acquainted with the Waikato Stadium before facing the Portuguese women's team a day later. Surely, this will be another interesting experience for the team of coach Mai Duc Chung.

Unlike many other sports stadiums in New Zealand, Waikato Stadium is not built in an oval shape to host rugby matches. The stadium is designed in a rectangular shape. The distance from the stands to the field is also closer. Therefore, this is considered the stadium to watch football with the most "intimate" and passionate atmosphere in New Zealand.

Waikato Stadium organisers have announced that a dedicated fan trail will be installed during match days at the 2023 Women's World Cup. The trail will stretch from Victoria Street next to Garden Place to Waikato Stadium and will be decorated in a range of vibrant colours.

Waikato Stadium is considered the most enthusiastic sports stadium in New Zealand.

Waikato Stadium hosted the 2023 Women’s World Cup Intercontinental Play-offs between six confederations in February 2023, which saw Panama and Portugal qualify. The stadium has also hosted tournaments such as the U.17 Women’s World Cup and U.20 Women’s World Cup. To improve the quality of the stadium, the stadium management spent $1.15 million to improve the changing rooms, toilets, disabled showers and separate changing rooms for both female players and officials.

A month before the 2023 Women's World Cup, FIFA conducted a quality inspection of Waikato Stadium. At that time, FIFA was very surprised by the quality of this stadium. According to Stuff , FIFA sent very detailed technical specifications. Waikato Stadium must undergo a number of specific parameters around the grass surface, humidity, hardness of the field, and soil temperature before each match. Therefore, the people in charge of care affirmed that this place will be the perfect place for the female players to show their best at the 2023 Women's World Cup.
