Telegram sent to the Minister of Transport; Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises; Chairman of the People's Committees of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces.

According to the dispatch, Bai Gio tunnel was built on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line during the French period with a lifespan of more than 100 years, the risk of tunnel landslides has been identified, predicted and assessed in advance.

At 12:45 on April 12, during the construction of Bai Gio tunnel, a landslide occurred on the top of the tunnel, causing a traffic jam on the railway.

Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Transport directed Project Management Board 85 (investor), construction contractors and Vietnam Railways Corporation to coordinate and mobilize resources to work through the night to fix the problem as soon as possible.

However, due to the serious degradation of Bai Gio tunnel, complex geological conditions, and limited construction space, only the first landslide has been repaired so far, and the second landslide has not been completed.

To ensure safety and smooth operation of the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway route, the Prime Minister requested the Minister of Transport to urgently direct the project investor and affiliated agencies to mobilize all resources to promptly overcome the landslide incident at Bai Gio tunnel, urgently open the route as soon as possible; Ensure absolute safety during construction as well as during incident handling.

The Chairmen of the People's Committees of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces coordinate with Vietnam Railways Corporation to ensure safety conditions for vehicles and traffic infrastructure during the transfer through the congested section due to the landslide incident at Bai Gio tunnel.

The Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises directed Vietnam Railways Corporation to coordinate with the project investor to mobilize on-site forces to promptly fix the problem; Arrange vehicles and facilities to best serve the people during the transfer period.

At about 12:45 on April 12, at Bai Gio tunnel (Km 1231+100, Dai Lanh - Hao Son section), North - South railway line, in normal weather conditions, a landslide occurred while the construction unit was repairing this tunnel.

The landslide did not cause any casualties. About 180 cubic meters of rock and soil fell down and blocked the tunnel. The North-South railway line was blocked.

After the incident, Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company mobilized two construction trains from both ends to transport soil and rocks that had collapsed in the tunnel to spray concrete to temporarily reinforce the tunnel lining.

The railway industry in coordination with the two localities of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa has been mobilizing hundreds of road vehicles to transfer train passengers between the two stations of Gia (Khanh Hoa) and Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen) to continue their train journey.

From the evening of April 12 to 13 alone, nearly 3,000 passengers were transferred through the Deo Ca tunnel area to continue their journey.
