Arsenal continues to be active in the summer transfer market in 2025. While waiting for the "blockbuster" Viktor Gyokeres, the Gunners officially successfully recruited Noni Madueke from city rival Chelsea for 52 million pounds.

This is a very surprising deal, because Noni Madueke is not highly rated. The 23-year-old English star joined Chelsea in January 2023 for 28.5 million pounds. He scored only 1 goal in his first half-season at Stamford Bridge.

Noni Madueke was used on the right wing for Chelsea in the following two seasons. However, his performances were inconsistent. The winger scored a total of 20 goals and assisted 9 goals in 92 games for Chelsea, but he was often criticized by the Blues fans.

When the British media reported that Arsenal had splashed out on Noni Madueke, many fans of the club spoke out against it. They even created an online campaign to collect signatures and send them to Arsenal's board of directors asking them not to sign the Chelsea striker. Besides doubting Noni Madueke's talent, Arsenal fans believed that they did not need to spend more than £50 million to buy a backup player for Buyako Saka. Despite that, the Gunners still decided to bring the English star to Emirates.

On the evening of July 18, Arsenal's homepage announced that they had officially signed Noni Madueke on a long-term contract. The English winger will wear the number 20 shirt in the new season. Because he played for Chelsea at the 2025 Club World Cup, Noni Madueke will be given a rest and will not have to travel to Asia with Arsenal. He is expected to join his new team in early August.
