According to VNA special correspondent, on the afternoon of July 23 (local time), within the framework of the official visit to Senegal, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with Senegalese National Assembly Chairman Malick Ndiaye, members of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the Vovinam Club in the capital Dakar and enjoyed martial arts performances by students of the Senegal Vovinam Federation.

President of the Senegal Vovinam Federation Dr Diomaye Dieng emphasized that in order to contribute to society, one must be healthy. Martial arts will train martial artists to become good citizens, actively participating in the development of the country, community work, and contributing to society.

According to the President of the Senegal Vovinam Federation, through Vovinam, disciples have actively contributed to promoting Vietnamese culture in Senegal, fostering the increasingly close friendship between Vietnam and Senegal; through martial arts, spreading humanistic values, peace, and charity.

The spirit of Vovinam, also known as Viet Vo Dao, is a combination of martial arts and martial ethics, aiming at training people comprehensively in both physical and mental aspects.

This is not only about learning self-defense moves but also about cultivating morality, building character and contributing to society.

Vietnamese martial art Vovinam has become popular in Senegal, with about 3,000 practitioners nationwide, second in Africa after Algeria.

Senegal has established the Vovinam Association under the World Vovinam Federation. Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is also a Vovinam practitioner.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented the logo of the Vietnamese National Assembly to the Senegal Vovinam Federation. President of the Senegal Vovinam Federation Dr Diomaye Dieng also presented a souvenir to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man./.
