From July 6 to September 27, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital organized a series of events, opening program and discussion "New methods in medical communication", attracting nearly 300 delegates.

Sharing at the program, Professor, Doctor, Doctor Truong Quang Binh, former Deputy Director, Chairman of the Scientific Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital said that on the new development trend, the hospital's development of the initiative to build a team of KMOLs will promote doctors, medical staff to be more proactive and professional in strongly spreading communication messages, creating their influence in providing authentic and practical medical information to the majority of people.

From July 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital will coordinate with RMIT University Vietnam to organize a series of 10 seminars on KMOLs. The program will equip healthcare professionals with a foundation of knowledge and communication skills, opening up career opportunities and facilitating personal development. The spread and positive influence of KMOLs is a demonstration of healthcare professionals' social responsibility to the community.

The opening of the series of events was the Talk Show “Medical experts and their role in influencing society” led by Master Do Thi Nam Phuong, Head of the Communication Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, which brought practical sharing and inspiration so that every doctor, nurse, and medical staff can become KMOLs, serving the community better.

At the seminar, journalist Vu Manh Cuong, Director of the Central Center for Health Education and Communication, Ministry of Health, highlighted the challenges that medical communication is facing in the digital age, especially the spread of misinformation.

He highly appreciated the Key Medical Opinion Leaders (KMOLs) initiative of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, considering it an important step forward to help medical professionals convey information accurately and effectively. He also emphasized the importance of building a nationwide KMOLs network to connect and share knowledge among medical professionals and raise public awareness.

Also at the Seminar, Associate Professor Pham Cong Hiep, Head of the Department of Creative Business, Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation, Faculty of Business, RMIT University Vietnam discussed the role of digital media and AI in medical communication, outlining the necessary skills that KMOLs need to have to optimize the transmission of medical information.

He also introduced a series of workshops to equip health professionals with knowledge and skills, helping them become KMOLs who have a positive influence on the community.
