Doctors from the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, E Hospital ( Hanoi ) have just successfully performed surgery to remove a sharp metal foreign object, a needle, from the left buttock of a 23-year-old girl in Hung Yen. This girl had a rare accident when wearing a wedding dress to her husband's house.

The emergency needle "thương mã phong" stuck in the female patient's buttock muscle was removed by the doctor at E Hospital.

Sharing with the doctors about her accident, the girl said that on her wedding day, the "elders" had put a needle in the hem of her dress and told her to use the needle to "save" her husband if he unfortunately "fell ill" or "fell ill"...

However, when she got into the wedding car, she was stabbed by this very needle. She only thought that the needle was causing pain, so she did not realize that the needle had penetrated deep into her buttocks. That evening, when she exercised vigorously, the girl felt a sharp pain because the needle had penetrated deep into her body. After that, the young couple went to a lower-level hospital for examination. Here, the doctors pricked the skin but did not find any foreign objects.

On the morning of May 22, the couple went to Hospital E (Hanoi). Specialist 2 Doctor Kieu Quoc Hien, Head of the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery (Hospital E), said that the patient was admitted to the hospital with severe pain in the left buttock area.

The doctor examined and found a 5 cm long skin puncture wound that had been closed with stitches; the patient had pain in the buttocks, especially during strenuous exercise.

Taking a medical history, the patient was suspected of sitting on a 5cm long sewing needle. However, because the patient was pregnant and could not be exposed to X-rays, the doctors considered ordering an X-ray to locate the foreign object.

After consulting with doctors from the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (Hospital E), the patient was given a lead apron and had a separate X-ray taken of the left buttock to accurately identify the foreign object.

With the confirmed X-ray results, Dr. Kieu Quoc Hien and his colleagues removed the foreign object from the girl. After 5 minutes of anesthesia, the foreign object, a 5cm long sewing needle, was removed from the girl's buttock muscle.

Doctor Hien said that this was not a difficult case but the danger level was serious, because once the needle entered the body, it could move everywhere, even into the heart, lungs, abdomen...

In addition, for pregnant patients, the appointment of X-rays must be done with caution, as it may affect the fetus.

Doctor Hien recommends that if you are unfortunately pierced and penetrated by a sharp foreign object such as a sewing needle, syringe, etc., you should immediately go to a medical facility with full medical equipment and a specialist to intervene and remove the foreign object as quickly as possible.

In addition, patients should not use folk remedies or remove foreign objects on their own, as this can cause the foreign object to penetrate deeper, making it difficult to handle or dangerous.
