The Vietnamese player continued to surprise when he defeated qualifying champion Yu Li Si (Taiwan, China) at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-ball pool billiards tournament on September 26.

The second day of competition (September 26) of the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-ball Billiards Pool Tournament saw player Luong Duc Thien defeat champion Yu Li Si with a score of 9-6. Continuing his winning streak, Duc Thien continued to win 9-3 against Luong Chi Dung to advance to the knockout round. Notably, Yu Li Si then lost 6-9 to Do Van Khai in the play-off match for a ticket and officially said goodbye to the tournament.
