'Thirst' for high-quality human resources in digital transformation

Recruitment "hot spot"

In the context of strong digital transformation taking place globally, the field of Management and Digital Innovation is emerging as a potential field in both domestic and international labor markets.

This industry also brings attractive income. The average salary of a Chief Digital Officer (CDO) in Vietnam is up to 55,000 USD/year (about 1.3 billion VND) according to SalaryExpert's report. In developed countries like the US, a CDO is paid an average of about 203,000 USD/year, in the UK it is about 150,000 USD/year, Singapore ranges from 110,000 to 220,000 USD and Australia is 100,000 to 170,000 USD.

The World Economic Forum's (WEF) Future of Jobs 2025 report shows that 60% of businesses expect technology and digital to be the main driving force behind their organizations, surpassing all other HR trends.

In Vietnam, the National Digital Transformation Program (2020) sets dual goals: developing digital government, digital economy, digital society and building Vietnamese digital technology enterprises capable of reaching out globally.

Since then, digital transformation has made significant progress, sparking a wave of strong transformation in the business community. Vietnam’s digital economy is forecast to grow to 49 billion USD by 2025.

Education is also shifting to keep up with the demands of the digital labor market.

Global trends have fueled the explosion of the Digital Management and Innovation industry, as the need for people who can “keep pace” between business and technology grows.

These professionals possess the knowledge and skills to harness technology, understand markets, transform operations, and anticipate customer behavior in a volatile digital environment.

However, McKinsey warns that less than 50% of the current workforce meets high-tech skill requirements, indicating an increasingly clear skills gap.

Gear up for the digital age

Management and Digital Innovation is one of the key programs of British University Vietnam (BUV), awarded by the University of London and academically directed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

BUV is the first and only university in Vietnam to offer programmes academically directed by LSE – currently ranked 4th in the UK's best university rankings, according to The Guardian 2024.

With this cooperation, students studying the program will have access to deeply integrated knowledge between business administration and modern digital technology.

The program is structured from foundation to advanced. Students begin with core subjects such as information systems, digital infrastructure, finance and economics. Subsequent years focus on digital innovation, applied statistics and data analytics for strategic business decision making.

Students experience a lesson simulating a modern digital business environment

Graduates with an international degree from the University of London can work in many developed countries, taking on professional and management positions such as Digital Transformation Director, Digital Manager, Business Analyst, IT Project Manager or Digital Marketing – roles that are in high demand with competitive remuneration.

The demand for human resources in this field is increasing rapidly with the development of the digital economy. From financial technology (Fintech), healthcare (Healthtech), education (Edtech), e-commerce (E-commerce) to smart cities (Smart City), all industries need experts who can integrate technology and strategy. This is a wide open development space for graduates of the Digital Management and Innovation major from BUV.

In addition, BUV students also have the opportunity to participate in short-term and postgraduate courses at 69 partner universities in 16 developed countries. Many of these are part of the Russell Group - an alliance of leading research universities in the UK, renowned for their teaching quality and global influence.

According to Mr. Mark Harris, Head of Business Department, British University Vietnam, what makes the program different is its practicality linked to business requirements.

“Students are equipped with the ability to operate effectively in a digital environment, from accurate data analysis to implementing innovative solutions,” he shared.

Thanks to highly applicable courses such as entrepreneurship, data analysis and digital transformation, you develop sharp critical thinking, problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly in an increasingly digital business context.”
