Princess Anne hospitalized, suspected horse accident

The Telegraph reported that Princess Anne was likely injured by a horse while walking in Gatcombe Park (southwest England) on the evening of June 23, causing her to have minor head injuries.

Reuters quoted sources familiar with the matter as saying that the medical team assessed the injury as possibly coming from the horse’s head or legs. After the incident, she was transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment and observation.

Sources familiar with the matter said Princess Anne could return home this week, but many of her upcoming engagements will be postponed, including a visit to Canada that was scheduled for the weekend. Buckingham Palace said Princess Anne is recovering well and the princess apologized to anyone who was inconvenienced by her accident.

King Charles III, the royal family, and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have sent their best wishes to Princess Anne for a speedy recovery. King Charles III will still preside over the welcoming ceremony for Emperor Naruhito and his wife Masako on June 25.

Princess Anne, 73, is known to have a passion for horses and won a gold medal in equestrian at a European championship in 1971.

Recently, there has been information about the health status of some members of the British Royal Family, including the cancer of King Charles III and Princess of Wales Kate Middleton. On June 15, Princess Kate made her first public appearance after a period of cancer treatment, when she attended the military parade held on the occasion of King Charles' birthday.
