Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee said: The young generation is the future of the country, the generation of global citizens, playing a key role in contributing to building the province to be increasingly prosperous and sustainable. Empowering the young generation for a safe future against natural disasters is the province's strategic task, both urgent and long-term.

This is done in many forms and appropriate methods, aiming to create opportunities for the young generation to access knowledge to have a correct view and understanding of natural disasters, reduce natural disaster risks at the community, school and family levels; equip them with knowledge and skills to prevent natural disasters.

Representing international organizations, Mr. Rémi Nono Womdim - Chief Representative of FAO Vietnam shared: Young people have the power to become champions - factors that create change in disaster risk reduction. Their energy, ideas and aspirations are what will create a safe future against possible disasters.

In his closing speech, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep expressed his gratitude to the international community for sending emergency relief goods to people affected by the storm and post-storm circulation in the northern provinces of Vietnam during the recent storm No. 3 (Yagi).

Australia, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, India, the United States, Singapore, ASEAN countries, United Nations agencies, international organizations, and foreign non-governmental organizations have immediately activated support, distributed goods, necessities, cash, and implemented commitments to help overcome the consequences of natural disasters and help people rebuild their lives. "Today, we are talking about the topic 'Young Generation and Their Role in Ensuring Safety in Natural Disasters'. I don't know if using these words will make you feel too heavy. But I want you to understand very simply like this: Your responsibility, first of all, is to ensure that you have enough skills and knowledge to ensure your safety in natural disasters.

Then, with their own understanding, they will spread and support their relatives and the community where they live and study to be safer from natural disasters," Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep shared.
