Copenhagen surpasses Vienna, tops list of "World's Most Livable Cities in 2025"

(GLO)- Not familiar names like London, New York, or Tokyo,... but Copenhagen is the most livable city in the world in 2025, announced by the UK's EIU Global Economic Research Unit on June 17.

Each year, the British research agency EIU ranks 173 cities around the world based on key factors. The criteria include: healthcare, education, stability, infrastructure and environment.

The "champion" in 2024 is the capital Vienna of Austria, also the third consecutive year Vienna holds this position.

However, this year, the top spot has changed. Denmark's capital Copenhagen, surpassing Austria's capital Vienna, received almost perfect scores in all categories, topping the list of the world's most livable cities.

The Austrian capital Vienna dropped to second place, as its score in the stability category dropped significantly, following recent incidents, including a bomb threat at a Taylor Swift concert last summer that led to the cancellation of the event.

The remaining 3 cities in the top 5 most livable cities in the world in 2025 are Zurich (Switzerland), Melbourne (Australia) and Geneva (Switzerland).

According to the EIU, the world's liveability remained unchanged in 2025 and, just like in 2024, the stability score declined globally due to conflict, inflation and other economic issues.
