Speaking at the University of Havana during his visit to Cuba from June 27-29, President of the United Nations General Assembly Dennis Francis affirmed that since the success of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959, the country has always firmly defended multilateralism, peace , respect for sovereignty and sovereign equality among all nations.

Presenting a speech on the theme "Cuba and Multilateralism: Opportunities and Challenges", the head of the United Nations General Assembly emphasized that the Caribbean island nation always protects the rights of children and women, while striving to improve the quality of health care and education .

According to the President of the United Nations General Assembly, this is the foundation for creating a life full of hope and prosperity.

Mr. Francis highlighted Cuba's achievements in gender equality. Women make up 43.3% of the Cuban National Assembly, and the country ranks third in the world in terms of the ratio of female lawmakers to members of parliament.

The President of the United Nations General Assembly hopes that Cuba will continue to respond to the organization's call and actively work for global multilateralism, contributing to the health and education development of many peoples and the world.

This is Mr. Francis' first visit to Cuba as President of the United Nations General Assembly.

The visit is part of the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly and includes several meetings with senior Cuban leaders, including President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Deputy Health Minister Tania Margarita Cruz.
