Food Safety Department investigates food poisoning case caused by eating puffer fish in Ca Mau

Accordingly, the Food Safety Department received information on March 4, 2025 about a case of food poisoning due to eating puffer fish occurring in Cai Doi Vam town, Phu Tan district, Ca Mau province, in which 4 cases had to be hospitalized for treatment.

The Food Safety Department requested the Department of Health of Ca Mau province to urgently direct hospitals where patients are being treated to focus all resources on actively treating patients, not to affect their health and lives. In case of necessity, they can request support for professional consultation with higher-level hospitals.

In addition, the Department of Health of Ca Mau province coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and functional units in the area to promote propaganda and education on food safety knowledge and measures to prevent food poisoning caused by natural toxins for the community.
