"The U23 Vietnam squad this time has many young players who are on the rise and are expected to be the successors to the national team in the future. The uniformity in level between the players will help the coaching staff have many options to rotate the squad, suitable for each match" - the former Vietnam national team striker commented.

Coach Kim Sang-sik has finalized the list of 23 U23 Vietnam players to attend the tournament in Indonesia. In addition to creating opportunities for the new players to practice, compete, and gain experience, Mr. Kim's team also aims to defend the "throne" of U23 Southeast Asia. The Golden Star Warriors have won the tournament for two consecutive years.

Phan Thanh Binh used to be a famous striker of Vietnamese football.

Commenting on the journey of the U23 Vietnam team in this tournament, former player Phan Thanh Binh analyzed: "The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Tournament brings together many strong teams, possessing a number of highly skilled naturalized players. Therefore, the journey to the championship of the U23 Vietnam team will be more difficult than in previous tournaments. However, if there is a reasonable tactical strategy, the players are confident and try hard to compete, then coach Kim Sang-sik's team still has the opportunity to win this tournament for the third consecutive time."

As the defending champions, the U23 Vietnam team is in Group B, along with U23 Laos and U23 Cambodia. Coach Kim Sang-sik's team has been well prepared, possessing a squad of outstanding young talents of Vietnamese football and will start the group stage with a match against U23 Laos at 5:00 p.m. on July 19.
