From the beginning of 2024 to present, Dak Lak province has recorded 2 cases of Japanese encephalitis.
On July 7, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dak Lak province announced that it had just recorded another case of Japanese encephalitis in Ea Kar district (Dak Lak province).
The patient is Mr. TVD (52 years old, residing in Ea Kar district). Previously, on June 19, Mr. D. had symptoms of fever and fatigue, so he went to a private clinic for examination and bought medicine but it did not help. On June 21, Mr. D. was taken to the Central Highlands General Hospital and then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) for treatment.
At Cho Ray Hospital, test results showed that the patient was positive for the virus that causes Japanese encephalitis. The patient is currently suffering from complications such as coma, acute kidney injury, respiratory failure, epilepsy, and high blood pressure.
It is known that this is the second case of Japanese encephalitis in the province since the beginning of 2024.
To prevent the disease from spreading, Dak Lak CDC has coordinated with Ea Kar District Health Center and Ea Kmut Commune Health Station to treat the environment around the patient's house. At the same time, this agency has stepped up propaganda for people to take proactive measures to prevent and control Japanese encephalitis.
