The negotiation round took place from November 7-9 in Bonn.

Taking place from November 7-9, the negotiations focused on discussing areas of particular interest to Vietnam and Germany or aimed at maintaining global common resources.

The special significance of development cooperation with Vietnam was also emphasized by the fact that the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Jochen Flasbarth, opened and chaired the negotiations.

In the future, Germany and Vietnam agreed to focus on areas of cooperation such as forest protection, energy and vocational training. The German government will provide 61 million euros for these areas over the next two years.

The German side particularly emphasized the leading role and efforts of the Vietnamese side in realizing international agendas and goals such as climate goals and the global development agenda.

In addition to technical discussions on future focuses, the two sides also exchanged views on current political issues and international crises as well as framework conditions for cooperation with the Vietnamese side.

The German delegation stressed the desire to promote and achieve success in the partnership for a just energy transition that has been implemented. However, from the German side's point of view, it is important that the legal framework conditions for the provision of financial support are improved. This is currently a major obstacle, causing delays in the implementation of projects.

During the signing ceremony of the minutes of the meeting, Deputy Director General Gisela Hammerschmidt once again emphasized the success of the negotiations and said that this demonstrated the comprehensive and trustworthy bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The two sides hope to soon implement the negotiation results and thereby continue to strengthen the strategic partnership between Germany and Vietnam that was agreed upon in 2011.
