The total budget of more than 81.5 billion VND was mobilized from the central budget and provincial budget, according to the Resolution of the People's Council of Thanh Hoa province.

Reviving a national cultural and historical icon

According to the approved content, the project will focus on renovating, restoring and embellishing important items including: 4 Thai temples (coded 01, 02, 08, 09), Ba Hang Dau temple and building a gate to the relic site according to traditional architecture.

These items are all designed based on archaeological documents, bearing the cultural and architectural imprints of the Later Le period.

Specifically, the four Thai temples will be restored on the old foundation, each with a one-story scale, ironwood frame structure, roof covered with restored fish-tail tiles, and ancient brick floors. The truss structure "stacked beams and gongs", wooden walls with silk panels, upper-slit and lower-slat doors... all recreate the original architectural spirit of the 15th century Le Dynasty.

The highlight is the glass roof covering the archaeological exhibition pit between the two temples, using modern materials in harmony with the traditional space, ensuring the function of displaying and preserving artifacts.

The Ba Hang Dau Temple will be restored with a scale of 8.68m x 12.08m, nearly 8m high. The gate of the relic site is designed with three entrances, nearly 10m high, reinforced concrete structure imitating wood, traditional tiled roof, is the highlight to welcome visitors, showing the solemnity and scale of a top relic in Thanh Hoa.

Lam Kinh is not simply a relic complex. This is the sacred “Tay Kinh”, the birthplace of the Lam Son uprising, the homeland of the hero Le Loi and also the resting place of many kings of the Later Le dynasty.

In 1428, after defeating the Ming army, Le Loi ascended the throne, taking the reign name Le Thai To, opening one of the most prosperous dynasties in Vietnamese history.

Although the capital was in Thang Long (Dong Kinh), he still built Lam Kinh as a second capital, with profound spiritual and political significance.

Lam Kinh is not only of historical value, but also a symbol of the cultural tradition and civilization of Dai Viet in the 15th century. The architecture here represents a harmonious combination of Eastern philosophy, Confucianism and Vietnamese folk art, expressed through mausoleums, temples, steles, and many valuable archaeological relics.

This relic was ranked at the national level since 1962, and in 2012, was officially recognized as a special national relic, demonstrating the timeless value of the land of "geomancy and talented people".

From relic to development driver

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the project's goal is not only to restore and embellish but also to promote heritage values associated with tourism development and local socio-economic development.

Lam Kinh is identified as one of the key cultural and historical tourist destinations of Thanh Hoa in particular and the country in general.

With a capital of more than 81 billion VND, most of which is for construction costs, the rest is allocated for construction investment consultancy, project management and contingency costs, the province requires investors and related units to strictly implement the process, ensuring quality, progress and absolute safety during construction and exploitation.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the unit assigned as the investor, will closely coordinate with the Department of Construction, specialized agencies and local authorities to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of each item, ensuring the spirit of "preservation is respecting the original", while aiming for long-term use value.

For Thanh Hoa people, Lam Kinh is not only a relic, but also a source of pride that has been attached for generations. Despite hundreds of years of historical upheaval, this land still retains its spiritual energy, becoming a place of return for those far from home and a spiritual and cultural destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

Investing in the restoration and renovation of Lam Kinh at the present time is not only a necessary step in heritage conservation, but also carries a strong message: "Do not let heritage be forgotten in the flow of modern development".

When the old roof tiles are replaced with restoration materials, when each temple and citadel gate is recreated according to the original model, it is also the time when the soul of a dynasty and of the whole nation is awakened, returning to the heart of today's era.
