The 2024 summer volunteer programs and campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City have just ended, and the discussion aims to improve the quality of the youth volunteer movement to make it more effective, professional and sustainable. Director of the National Volunteer Center (Central Youth Union) Do Thi Kim Thoa said that improving the management and coordination capacity of volunteer activities for Youth Union and Association officials should be considered an important task.

Ms. Thoa said that she had piloted training courses to improve the capacity of volunteer work for Youth Union officials at all levels more than 10 years ago. Thanks to that, generations of excellent and active cadres were created from the sharing of lessons learned by the lecturers of that generation.

Vice President of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Luu Tan Luc, shared at the seminar new volunteer models of the school's students.

These include self-produced film screenings for patients, developing lesson plans to update health knowledge for classes, and investing in fundraising booths for communication purposes so that other units and students can participate. And hopefully some of these methods can provide useful reference information for units.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary of Can Gio District Youth Union Nguyen Minh Kha said that flexibility is needed when handling work and implementing activities. At the same time, detailed backup plans should be calculated so as not to be too surprised if there is an unfortunate need to adjust or change the content of the activities at the last minute.

"I really hope that the units will pay attention, devote resources and human resources to support the district, especially Thanh An commune, which is also the only island commune of Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Kha.

Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Student Association Le Duc Dat said that Gen Z students today are active, creative, and love to conquer new things, but they also give up easily. This situation forces the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Student Association to conduct research to propose some specific solutions.

For example, creating an environment to connect resources to implement volunteer programs, applying connection technology to spread your image to create values for society. At the same time, promoting the professional value of the team so that volunteers can do what they are passionate about. And creating conditions for volunteers to directly implement volunteer content, thereby annually recording your results.
