Today in Ho Chi Minh City, an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation for the 2023-2028 term was held to consider the resignation of Chairman Mai Huu Tin. Accordingly, the delegates agreed with the resignation of businessman Mai Huu Tin and unanimously elected martial artist Tran Van My to replace him as Chairman of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation.

Businessman Mai Huu Tin said: "In 2017, I accepted the invitation of martial artist Nguyen Van Chieu and Mr. Le Quoc An (former President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation) to take on the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation as a sponsor and a connector with domestic and international authorities. Now I resign from the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation to fully focus on my duties as President of the World Vovinam Federation with the goal of spreading Vietnamese martial arts more strongly internationally towards the Olympics."

Mr. Mai Huu Tin added that the election of Master Tran Van My as President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation is appropriate as the head of the sect will be the head of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation to have a stronger voice of solidarity in managing domestic movement activities. Before being elected to replace Mr. Mai Huu Tin, Master Tran Van My was Vice President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation and Chief of the Vovinam Viet Vo Dao sect.

Master Tran Van My confided: "In the past 8 years, since businessman Mai Huu Tin held the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation, the position of Vovinam domestically and internationally has been stable and raised to a new height. The Vovinam movement has grown stronger when businessman Mai Huu Tin created solidarity among martial artists as well as the executive board of the federation. In recent years, Mr. Mai Huu Tin has used his personal financial resources to sponsor Vovinam activities domestically and internationally, which are extremely great contributions. Hopefully, his focus on the position of President of the World Vovinam Federation will help Vovinam develop even more strongly."
