On the afternoon of August 2, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club confirmed that it had sent a reply to VPF, requesting not to participate in V.League 2025/26. This is the slot that this team was given after Quang Nam voluntarily withdrew from the tournament registration list.
In an announcement on their homepage, the team with striker Nguyen Cong Phuong stated the reason: “We deeply understand that being present at the National Football Championship is a great honor. That is why the decision not to participate in this year’s season was an extremely difficult choice. But what bothers us the most is not the glory, but the question: Are we ready to make our fans proud?”
Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club affirmed that they do not want to play in V.League just to “participate for the sake of it”. Instead, this team aims to compete when they are ready in terms of personnel, finance and organization to bring quality performances, worthy of the fans’ expectations.
Previously, after Quang Nam did not register to participate in V.League 2025/26, VFF approved the adjustment and chose one of the two First Division teams that finished in second and third place, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club and PVF-CAND, to replace them. When the Southeast football representative refused, the promotion spot was transferred to PVF-CAND.
With the presence of PVF-CAND, this team will replace Quang Nam, keeping the same position in the previously announced schedule. In addition, the tournament organizers also extended the time to register the player list of this team until August 7, in order to create the best conditions for the new V.League 2025/26 recruits to prepare.
