On the evening of July 2 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ), the match between the Vietnamese women's team and the UAE women's team took place. This was the second and most important match of the Vietnamese girls in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers.
After the opening whistle, the Vietnamese women's team took the initiative to control the ball and impose their style of play on their opponents. Their physical disadvantage was clearly shown through each collision, when the height of our players was only equal to the opponent's shoulders, so the Vietnamese women's team encountered many difficulties in attacking.
UAE players have a big advantage in one-on-one battles.
After many attempts to attack, the result finally came. In the 10th minute, from a corner kick by Van Su, Chuong Thi Kieu jumped high to head the ball to open the score for the Vietnamese women's team.
With the opening goal, our girls seemed to have relieved the pressure. The goals came consecutively in the 14th and 42nd minutes by Thai Thi Thao and Nguyen Thi Van.
In the second half, the pressure was still maintained by our girls. In the 51st minute, Nguyen Thi Van moved intelligently to receive a back pass from her teammate and finished with a tricky shot to increase the score to 4-0.
In the 60th minute, Bich Thuy had an accurate cross for Hai Yen to jump high and head the ball, but the UAE goalkeeper made an excellent save.
However, Hai Yen did not have to regret for too long. In the 63rd minute, from a long pass from Diem My, Ngan Thi Van Su had a header assist for Hai Yen to tap the ball into the UAE net, raising the score to 5-0.
The UAE goalkeeper had a hard day at work as he continuously faced attacks from Vietnamese players.
In the 90+5 minute, Hai Yen cushioned the ball close to the goal, but the ball went right to the UAE goalkeeper's chosen position. The ball bounced to Van Su's position, she quickly fired a shot into the away team's net, 6-0 was also the final score of the match.
With this result, the Vietnamese team has a bright chance to continue with 6 points. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team only need to draw in the final match against Guam to be able to win a ticket to the final round of the 2026 Asian Cup.
