(HNMO) - According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation, as part of the plan towards the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Vietnam team will play a friendly match with Syria on June 20 at Thien Truong Stadium ( Nam Dinh ).
In addition to the friendly match with the Hong Kong team (China) on June 15 at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ), the Vietnamese team will have another "test of fire". Accordingly, on June 20, the students of coach Philippe Troussier will face the Syrian team - the team ranked 90th, 5 places above the Vietnamese team on the FIFA rankings.
The Syrian team also entered the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia like Vietnam. Syria won 6 points in this qualifying round, with 1 win against Lebanon and 3 draws against opponents Iraq (2 times) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Syrian team also showed their discomfort when they only lost by a narrow margin to World Cup teams such as Iran and South Korea in the first leg of the qualifying round at that time.
