On November 15, Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee opened the 2nd Mekong Delta Startup Forum 2024, with the theme "Green Economy - New Driving Force for Development".

Mr. Tran Tri Quang - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee - said that currently, the Mekong Delta region has about 60,000 operating enterprises, including 400 - 500 start-up projects each year.
Besides its agricultural strengths, this place is facing many great challenges of climate change, so converting the economy to a green agricultural trend and reducing emissions is an inevitable need.
At the first forum in 2022, the Mekong Delta provinces committed to the following goals: Modern, circular, low-emission agriculture; national efforts to reduce at least 30% of total methane emissions by 2030 compared to 2020 levels in crop and livestock farming activities; building Dong Thap into a center for emission reduction solutions; focusing on solutions related to low-emission agriculture.
The second forum took place in the context that the Government and central ministries are interested in implementing the project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030", focusing on the goal of creating Dong Thap as the center of green transformation solutions in the Mekong Delta region.
"Dong Thap will initiate the initiative to establish the Mekong Green Transformation Network, with the goal of forming a force, promoting public-private cooperation, sustainable development solutions and environmental protection, and green transformation.
Through the forum, start-ups will contribute to the green economy as well as propose solutions to remove bottlenecks, propose solutions and develop new technologies to promote the value of local resources, and anticipate the world's development trends," said Mr. Quang.
Also on November 15, the final round of the Mekong Innovation Competition 2024 will take place with 10 projects competing and convincing investors. These are excellent projects selected from 136 projects from 18 provinces and cities nationwide.
