Vietnam national team leads Southeast Asia in 2023 on FIFA rankings.

In December, the Vietnam national team did not have any official or friendly matches, so there were no points deducted or added. Compared to other Southeast Asian countries, the Vietnam national team has a much higher ranking. The Thai national team ranked 2nd in Southeast Asia (FIFA ranking 113). The third place is the Malaysian national team, after jumping 7 places in November, this team still maintains its ranking of 130.

The Indonesian team was quite disappointing when they finished behind the Philippines. Coach Shin Tae Yong and his team ended 2023 ranked 146th, 6 places behind the Philippines. The top 3 teams in Asia are Japan (ranked 17th), Iran (ranked 21st) and South Korea (ranked 23rd).

The top 3 teams in the world on the FIFA rankings are Argentina, France, England. The next positions in the world top 10 are Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia. The next FIFA rankings will be announced on February 15, 2024.
