Luxury cruise for cats in Singapore, price 4 million VND/ticket

Cats on board the cruise will experience high-end services that are rarely found elsewhere. Service providers are confident that both cats and their owners will be satisfied.

On a cruise aboard the luxury cruise ship Royal Albatross, passengers can enjoy a four- or seven-course meal alongside their cats. The cruise line started offering the expensive cat cruises in early August, after a similar service for dog owners became popular.

The boat, carrying 130 passengers and 15 cats, cruised along Sentosa Island for two and a half hours. Those on the trip were able to watch the sunset and enjoy a short fireworks display.

"The cats enjoy the view and I guess they feel their freedom," said Marissa Ng, 28, owner of two five-year-old Ragdoll cats named Coco and Bobo.

Sandra Lim, who was also on the special trip, commented: "It was a great day out for my two cats. It's not every day they get to experience something like this, but they had a completely different attitude, Momo enjoyed it and Monkey just wanted to go home."

The Royal Albatross has welcomed more than 2,000 dogs on cruises since 2021. After launching the new service, the Singapore-based operator sold more than 200 tickets for cat cruises for about $166 each.

Dog and cat cruises are held on separate days. The dogs dine on board, while the cat owners take their meals home as the finicky creatures are unlikely to eat outside of what they consider their comfort zone.

The company that operates the Royal Albatross requires passengers to keep their cats on leashes at all times during the trip. Cats must also be vaccinated and dewormed, and must be in a basket or carrier when on board.
