Using AI to advise on buying gold and stocks, is it a mistake?

(NLDO) – Many AI tools help process and analyze big data in a short time but lack deep understanding of the market, which can pose risks to investors...

On June 30, VN-Index continued to record an increase of more than 4.6 points and closed at 1,376 points, less than 25 points away from the 1,400 mark. This is the highest level of this index in more than 3 years.

In this context, many investors choose stocks to "put money into", including using artificial intelligence (AI) tools for investment advice.

On stock forums and groups, many brokers have shared how to use prompts to "ask" ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek about stocks, gold, USD. These AIs are asked to analyze technical charts, calculate MA, RSI, large money flow indicators, and even give % probability for each scenario of price increase or decrease.

"Should I buy this stock now, or should I wait on the sidelines? What is the probability of each scenario?" - these are very popular questions on investment forums.

Many investors consider AI a "powerful assistant" thanks to its ability to quickly synthesize and analyze data. Some people even let AI create reports to forecast gold and stock prices, then use that as a basis for investing.

According to many experts, one of the risks of using AI is a lack of deep understanding of the market. Illustration: Chat GPT

According to Mr. Tran Anh Giau, Investment Consulting Director of Kafi Securities Company, AI has the advantage of processing large amounts of data, detecting market patterns and helping reduce decisions based on emotions. "AI provides an objective view of data, helping investors access information faster," Mr. Giau said.

However, he also warned: "AI is just a tool, it cannot replace knowledge and experience. If the input data is incorrect or missing, AI will give incorrect results. In addition, the market is also affected by politics , crowd psychology... which AI cannot predict accurately."

Financial expert Phan Dung Khanh also agrees. According to him, AI helps save a lot of time, costs, and even synthesizes information more broadly than any analysis team. "But AI can be wrong, even creating data for analysis. Investors should only consider AI as a reference source, verify it with their own knowledge, and not trust it completely," Mr. Khanh advised.

Many experts believe that investors should use AI as a support tool, combined with their own experience and caution. Because investing always has potential risks, it is necessary to evaluate carefully before investing.

The market is booming, but not everyone can succeed thanks to technology alone. Investors need to be alert and not let the "AI illusion" guide all their decisions.
