Ericsson and VNPT join hands to deploy 5G

DNVN - Ericsson and the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) have officially cooperated to deploy 5G technology, marking an important milestone in the long-term cooperation between the two companies, reinforcing the commitment to building a strong digital infrastructure in Vietnam.

According to the cooperation agreement between the two parties, Ericsson will deploy radio equipment products with modern, advanced technology, light weight and energy saving to ensure the best quality of mobile services as well as optimize VNPT's network performance.

The 5G service between Ericsson and VNPT will initially be deployed in several major provinces and cities in Vietnam, where there is a high density of VNPT mobile subscribers, tourist areas and developed businesses/industries.

5G technology will facilitate the development of many new applications and services.

The deployment of 5G is an important part of VNPT's strategy to provide high-quality data services, allowing faster, more reliable connections and meeting the growing needs of customers. 5G technology will facilitate the development of many new applications and services, from high-speed bandwidth to Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity; digitizing production and business activities in industries, thereby promoting Vietnam's socio -economic development.

VNPT General Director Huynh Quang Liem said: “The cooperation with Ericsson will help VNPT quickly deploy the highest quality 5G mobile network, meeting the growing needs of customers in Vietnam. 5G will be the foundation to promote economic development, thereby helping Vietnam accelerate its transformation into a digital economy."

Rita Mokbel, President and CEO of Ericsson Vietnam, said: “5G is a key factor in digital transformation and economic growth. Our cooperation with VNPT marks an important step in bringing connectivity solutions with modern, superior technology. We aim to support VNPT to quickly provide high-speed, stable and flexible 5G services."

Ericsson is currently the global leader in 5G and is recognized as one of the leading companies in 5G technology according to Frost Radar report.
