Gemini could soon replace Google Assistant in headphones

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên16/02/2024

Since its launch and rebranding last week from Bard to Gemini, Google has been steadily updating and integrating its latest AI work. It has merged Bard and Gemini into one, keeping in line with the large language model (LLM) that is the backbone of the AI. Google has also launched a subscription plan and a dedicated mobile version for Android that can act as a virtual assistant on your phone.

In its latest move, the "search giant" continues to upgrade Gemini even more, and this time it could change the way users operate and experience smart headphones. According to 9to5Google , a programmer who "digs" deep into the code of the latest Gemini test version for Android (version 15.6) has discovered evidence of an important change.

AI in smart headphones can elevate users' music experience

Currently, when users call the virtual assistant on smart headphones (e.g. Pixel Buds), the system will choose Google Assistant, even though Gemini has been designated as the default assistant on smartphones. But this may no longer be true in the upcoming official updates when Gemini is the chosen AI.

Although Google has not made any official announcement or any disclosure related to the issue, the discovery in the programming code described as "the Gemini mobile app is expanding its capabilities to be accessible from the headset" has been of interest to the technology world. Now we just have to wait for the company to announce the plan to integrate Gemini as the default virtual assistant on smart headphones.

With the appearance of Gemini on headphones, the listening experience can be raised to a new level, control operations such as changing songs, rewinding, requesting information summaries or even solving complex formulas can all be done without needing to touch your hands anywhere.

It's still too early to tell what benefits this change will bring, but it could open up new music experiences in an AI world , where headphones can automatically adjust the sound to suit the owner's habits or depending on the song being played...
