Supply shortages remain the main driver of higher coffee prices. The USDA’s forecast of a record global coffee production of 178.7 million bags in 2025-26 could ease the pressure on prices. However, factors such as extreme weather, rising production costs, labor shortages and logistical risks remain major hurdles.
US President Donald Trump’s decision to withhold a 50% tariff on Brazilian coffee exports has raised concerns in the market that the tariff could reduce Brazilian coffee sales to the US.
This has caused inventories to rise in Brazil and disrupted global trade flows. However, the Brazilian Finance Minister’s plan to hold talks with the US could ease the situation in the near future.

Data from the General Statistics Office shows that Vietnam’s coffee exports reached $6 billion in the first seven months of the year, up 64.9% in value compared to the same period last year. This strong export growth has helped the market have an abundant supply, however, with Vietnam’s coffee output forecast to reach a four-year high, the supply pressure may be somewhat relieved.
Vietnamese coffee businesses are stepping up investment in deep processing and traceability, helping to increase product value. This is a positive signal, helping Vietnamese coffee prices remain high in the international market.
