Live pigs in Ha Nam are being traded at the lowest price in the region at 48,000 VND/kg, down 2,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions decreased sporadically in some places.

Specifically, the price of live pigs in Ha Tinh and Thua Thien Hue is at 48,000 VND/kg and 49,000 VND/kg respectively, both down 1,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, after reducing 2,000 VND/kg, Dak Lak province adjusted the purchase price to 48,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 48,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, pig prices also decreased following the general market trend.

Currently, provinces and cities including Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Dong Thap, An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Ben Tre and Soc Trang are purchasing live pigs at prices ranging from 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

50,000 VND/kg is the price of live pigs recorded in Binh Phuoc and Binh Duong after a decrease of 2,000 VND/kg. With the same decrease, Ca Mau province adjusted the transaction down to 53,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 50,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.

* According to Mr. Nguyen Tri Cong, Chairman of Dong Nai Livestock Association, the complicated disease situation, of which the most worrying is the outbreak of African swine fever in some localities, has made farmers worried, selling quickly, and dumping, causing the supply of pork to the market to increase.

While demand for meat remains very weak, consumers are limiting their spending… causing prices to fall. At current prices, livestock farmers are suffering losses.

A pig farm owner in Gia Kiem commune, Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province said that there has never been a time when pig farmers have faced as many difficulties as in the past few years. Many farm owners who had previously suffered almost total losses due to African swine fever had to borrow money to restore their pig herds.

However, over the past two years, pig prices have been fluctuating continuously, causing the number of abandoned farms to increase. However, the supply of pork on the market is still abundant because livestock companies have strong financial potential, produce their own breeds and animal feed, and have much lower costs than small-scale farmers.
