At Ba Ria Vung Tau Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I met Son La in the opening match of the tournament. After the opening whistle, Thuy Trang and her teammates quickly pushed up their formation to look for the opening goal. However, Son La chose a tight defensive style of play by retreating the entire squad to their home field.
For most of the first half, TP.HCM I had difficulty approaching Son La's goal and did not have many chances to shoot. The Northern team patiently defended and maintained a 0-0 draw in the first half. Relieving the psychological pressure, TP.HCM I played more freely and quickly increased the gap. In the 81st minute, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan finished accurately to seal a 2-0 victory for TP.HCM I.
In the match at the same time, Thai Nguyen T&T met TP.HCM II. The personnel additions before the tournament helped the tea team become a candidate for the championship of the tournament. In the 4th minute, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy scored an early goal to break the deadlock for Thai Nguyen T&T. At the end of the first half, Hoai Luong made a tricky shot to double the gap for coach Doan Viet Trieu and his team.
Right at the beginning of the second half, Lo Thi Hoai and Le Hoai Luong scored consecutive goals to help Thai Nguyen T&T widen the gap to 4 goals. In the remaining time of the match, TP.HCM II tried hard but could not score more goals, they accepted a 0-4 defeat to their opponent.
