2025 Asian Muay Championship takes place in Thai Nguyen

(PLVN) - Nearly 400 athletes from 25 countries will compete at the 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship, taking place from June 20 to June 26 in Thai Nguyen province.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province spoke at the press conference to announce the 2025 Asian Muay Thai tournament.

On June 16, Thai Nguyen province held a press conference to announce the 2025 Asian Muay Championship, the first continental sporting event to be held locally.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province affirmed that "The locality's hosting of a continental-level tournament such as the 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship for the first time is an important milestone, demonstrating the stature and direction of sports development of the province".

"In addition to its sporting significance, the 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship is also an important opportunity for Thai Nguyen to promote the image of a young, dynamic land that is growing strongly in the fields of education , technology, tourism and sports. The event is expected to contribute to expanding cultural exchange cooperation and promoting local tourism development," Mr. Ngoc added.

This year’s tournament has 28 combat weight classes and 8 technical performance events. The Vietnamese sports delegation participated with 50 athletes, of which Thai Nguyen province alone contributed 6 athletes. The competitions are expected to bring top-notch competitions, a place where talent, bravery and noble sportsmanship shine among countries in the region.

A special highlight of the tournament was the President’s awarding of the Labor Medal to four Muay athletes with outstanding achievements. Among them, athlete Tran Thi Anh Tuyet (from Thai Nguyen Province Sports Training and Competition Center) was honored to be awarded the First Class Labor Medal. This is a noble award recognizing the efforts and contributions of athletes in the journey to elevate Vietnamese sports in the international arena.

As the host, Thai Nguyen province has proactively carried out preparations in a methodical, professional and synchronous manner according to international standards. From facilities, competition equipment, medical care, security to logistics services for delegates, athletes and visitors, all have been carefully reviewed to ensure quality and progress.

During the tournament, Thai Nguyen has the opportunity to visually and vividly introduce to international friends outstanding destinations such as Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area, Nui Coc Lake, ATK Dinh Hoa Historical Relic Site, traditional craft villages, OCOP products and unique intangible cultural heritages.

With a large scale, synchronous organization and high sense of responsibility, the 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship in Thai Nguyen promises to become a typical international sporting event, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of athletes, tourists and international friends.
