The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a document guiding the removal of difficulties in teaching Natural Sciences (integrating Physics, Chemistry, Biology), History and Geography.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, in the process of implementing the new general education program, it shows that the assignment of teachers and scheduling of teaching according to the program of some subjects and educational activities are still difficult and problematic.
For Natural Science, the school assigns teachers to ensure professional suitability and training with assigned teaching content (according to the content streams of Matter and its transformation, Energy and transformation, Living things, Earth and sky).
Teachers complain that it is difficult to teach integrated subjects. How does the Ministry of Education and Training guide?
The assignment of trained and professionally developed teachers to teach two content streams or the entire subject program must be carried out step by step, ensuring the professional requirements of teachers to ensure teaching quality.
In case of difficulty in arranging the timetable, it is necessary to develop a flexible teaching plan in terms of time and timing of implementing the content circuits or topics of the program in accordance with the assignment of teachers, meeting the requirements of scientificity, pedagogy and implementation ability of teachers.
The Ministry of Education and Training guides regular testing and evaluation to be carried out during the teaching and learning process.
Teachers who teach a subject conduct the assessment and evaluation of that subject. The principal assigns a teacher in charge of each subject in each class to coordinate with teachers who teach the subject in that class to unify regular assessment scores, ensure the assessment scores are according to regulations, summarize scores, record scores, and make comments in the student monitoring and assessment book and report card.
The matrix and content of the periodic test are built in accordance with the content and teaching duration of the program up to the time of the test. Guide students to take the test so that it is convenient for assigning teachers to grade the test and summarize the results.
Teaching History and Geography at the same time
For the subjects of History and Geography, according to the new guidelines, schools assign teachers to ensure the consistency between their trained expertise and the assigned teaching content (according to the History sub-subject, the Geography sub-subject and interdisciplinary topics).
The assignment of trained and professionally developed teachers to teach the entire subject program must be carried out step by step, ensuring the professional requirements of teachers to ensure teaching quality.
Regular and periodic testing and evaluation are carried out during the teaching process for each subject. The content of the periodic testing and evaluation is appropriate to the content and teaching duration of each History and Geography subject up to the time of testing and evaluation.

Priority given to teachers teaching by subject
Regarding experiential and career guidance activities, the Ministry of Education and Training requires that priority be given to assigning teachers in charge of each topic to facilitate the development of plans to organize implementation, guide and evaluate students during the experiential process according to the requirements of that topic.
The plan for organizing and implementing experiential and career guidance activities is built according to each topic. For example, for career guidance topics, technology teachers will have an advantage in organizing students to learn about the program and organizing students to report, discuss, and evaluate the implementation results.
The timetable is built to ensure flexibility (it is not required to divide the number of periods/week equally, it is not required to implement topics in order in the textbook) so that each topic is organized to be implemented in a period of time suitable to the teacher's plan during that time.
The above instructions do not have any new or different points compared to the previous ones. However, this time, the Ministry of Education and Training has included suggested teaching plans for each subject so that localities can easily and consistently implement them.
In the past 3 school years, most teachers of integrated subjects at secondary schools have encountered difficulties. Many places still apply the mechanical method of each subject teacher teaching that sub-subject separately. For example, Natural Science will be taught by Chemistry, Physics, and Biology teachers together, instead of just one teacher.
The same goes for History and Geography. The test questions and grading are also agreed upon and divided among teachers. This is not very effective and even increases the workload for teachers.
