On March 19, Mr. Dong Van Long, Head of Dong Son Project Management Board - Thanh Hoa City, said that the main urban road project of Rung Thong town connecting National Highway 45 to National Highway 47 (old Dong Son district) and East-West Avenue (Thanh Hoa City) will be connected by the end of March, early April 2025.
The Fox Mountain bottleneck is cleared, connecting the East-West Avenue project and the main urban road of Rung Thong town connecting National Highway 45 to National Highway 47.
It is known that the East-West Highway project (Thanh Hoa City), from Rung Thong town to the old National Highway 1A, has a length of 4.97 km with a total investment of 1,283 billion VND for the completed phase, of which the investment phase of phase 1 is 796.81 billion VND. The project started in December 2016 and will complete phase 1 in 2022.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Dong Son district (now merged into Thanh Hoa city) also implemented the construction of 7km of the main urban road of Rung Thong town connecting National Highway 45 to National Highway 47 with a total cost of 150 billion VND.
According to the investor, by the end of March and early April 2025, all three projects will be connected, creating a smooth flow along the East-West axis.
However, after construction was completed, these two projects could not be connected due to land clearance problems at the Cao Mountain intersection.
In 2023, the People's Committee of Dong Son district (now Thanh Hoa city) spent 70 billion VND to demolish Cao mountain to start construction of a 220m road connecting the two above-mentioned traffic projects.
The representative of the contractor for the project through Cao Mountain, Minh Tuan Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, said that currently, only the sidewalk paving and asphalt paving at the intersection between the two projects remain. It is expected to be put into use by the end of March.
The connected routes will reduce traffic on National Highway 47 and National Highway 45 and help people travel conveniently and safely.
According to Mr. Long, although 220m is a connecting section, it plays an important role in connecting the two East-West Avenue projects and the main urban road of Rung Thong town connecting National Highway 45 to National Highway 47, thereby forming a bustling economic axis.
Along with that, trading activities will develop vigorously through this connecting road. Traffic from the east and Thanh Hoa City will go through the East-West Highway to the intersection of the North-South Expressway and connect National Highway 47 to Sao Vang Airport (Tho Xuan).
Not only will this route reduce traffic volume on the old National Highway 47, it will also speed up urban beautification and expand and develop urban areas in the Southeast and West of Thanh Hoa City in the coming time.
