Hanoi officially has a 6.2km long street named after the late General Secretary Do Muoi.

The ceremony to name the street after the late General Secretary Do Muoi took place on the morning of February 1.

On the morning of February 1, the Hanoi People's Committee held a ceremony to name a street after Do Muoi - the late General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Hoang Mai district.

Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Nguyen Quang Duong; Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen; and representatives of the family of the late General Secretary Do Muoi attended the plaque-mounting ceremony.

Accordingly, Do Muoi Street is a dual carriageway in Gamuda urban area, adjacent to Ring Road 3, in Tran Phu ward, Hoang Mai district.

The 6.2km long, 68m wide route has synchronous investment in infrastructure, sidewalks, trees, and lighting, and is part of the Ring Road 3 construction investment project.

The route is located at the southern gateway of the capital, playing an important role, the main artery connecting the capital region, the northern, northwestern and southern provinces.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen assessed that the naming of Do Muoi Street was more meaningful when the street was named on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the late General Secretary's birthday (February 2, 1917 - February 2, 2024).

Late General Secretary Do Muoi (born February 2, 1917, passed away October 1, 2018), aged 101. He held the position of General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam from 1991 to 1997.

With 80 years of Party membership, 82 years of tireless work for national independence, national unification, for the happiness of the people and the strength of the country in the cause of innovation and international integration; no matter what position he held, General Secretary Do Muoi always left a very important mark with many pure and beautiful feelings for his compatriots, comrades, homeland and family.

For the capital Hanoi, General Secretary Do Muoi always had special affection and attention. He, together with the Politburo and the Government, always paid attention to helping Hanoi solve many important issues, keeping the capital Hanoi stable and developing.
